Poetry, theatre, music mingle in Sharjah

The show celebrating Sharjah’s rich history will be performed at the Al Majaz Amphitheater on January 25, 26, 28 and 29.

An immersive and experiential theatrical spectacle combining poetry and storytelling, ancient and contemporary music and breathtaking visuals is set to captivate music and art lovers in the United Arab Emirates with the highly anticipated premiere of Narratives of the place. Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Narratives of the Place, which tells the story of the emirate, its journey and its extraordinary achievements over the past 50 years, will be held on 25, 26, 28 and 29 January in Al Majaz. Sharjah Amphitheater.

Narratives of the Place was conceived and conceptualized on a similar scale to SGMB’s previous productions of 1001 Nights: The Last Chapter and Clusters of Light, and brings together artists, performers and playwrights from the UAE and around the world. to document Sharjah’s journey and offer a glimpse into its future.

The SGMB production will transform the Al Majaz Amphitheater into a breathtaking spectacle of engaging visuals, poetry and theater to bring to life the memory of the emirate, including its historic places, people and achievements, through a blend of poetry and storytelling. The show, combined with inspiring music, will take visitors on a breathtaking journey of the emirate’s massive development progress.

The show reveals the rich history of the emirate, highlights the valiant resistance against invaders, shares the stories and traditions of its ancient culture and brings viewers into modern times with the depiction of the monumental development progress of the emirate in all sectors, including the many international fairs and festivals it hosts every year.

Speaking before the show, Tariq Saeed Allay, Managing Director of SGMB, said: “The emirate’s development project under the leadership of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah deserves a spectacular celebration and the theatrical extravaganza highlights the history and beauty of the emirate.

He added: “Residents and visitors alike are well aware of Sharjah’s achievements and its remarkable status on the world map. The tales of the place will take the audience on a journey through history and highlight every milestone and achievement of the emirate with awe-inspiring scenes that are a brilliant visual treat.

To ensure the safety of participants, strict preventive measures will be applied in accordance with the efforts of the Government of the United Arab Emirates to curb the spread of COVID-19.
