The Manhattan Theater Club’s Morning Sun ends December 19

The world premiere of morning sun, by Tony winner Simon Stephens, ends its Off-Broadway tour on December 19. Originally scheduled to end on December 5, the Manhattan Theater Club production was extended for two weeks to New York City Center – Stage I, where it opened on November 3. Previews began on October 12.

Tony Winner Blair Brown (Copenhagen, the minutes), four-time Emmy winner and Tony nominee Edie Falco (Side Man, The House of Blue Leaves), and Tony-nominated Marin Ireland (Reasons to be pretty) star of the play, about the complexity and mystery of a woman’s life in Greenwich Village as 50 years pass. Lila Neugebauer (The Waverly Gallery) directed.

The production features stage design by points, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, and sound design by Lee Kinney and Daniel Kluger, with original music by Kluger. Laura Smith is production manager.

Stephens’ previous works include the 2015 Tony Best Play winner The curious incident of the dog in the night and Dyke/A life. morning sun was commissioned by MTC as part of the Bank of America New Play program.
